The Journey
Great darkness settled over
Galilee -
What time is this for a child to be born?
An angel counseled Joseph to flee
Preserving the Babe from Herod's decree.
Strangers in Egypt, weary
and poor -
What time is this for a child to be born?
Yet guarded by angels in exile afar,
Together they travelled through desert and moor.
How many years in a faraway
land -
What time is this for a child to be born?
How many ages still are at hand
Till darkness is lifted and evil is banned?
And how many wandering, homeless
and tired -
What time is this for a child to be born?
Gaze on a child with loving heart's fire,
Gaze on a star and toward freedom aspire?
For though some are banished
from family and friend
What time is this for a child to be born?
The light has been born and lives among men
And all in His name are united again.

A golden dream of what life can be,
A dream that we all can share.

A golden love I may bring to God
That His child I'll always be.
I want a Lord of my very own
