Dear Mr President,
Another day, another stunt. Not a plastic
turkey this time, but a star studded event at the Kennedy Center,
featuring the Iraq National Symphony Orchestra, who have been
flown in by the State Department for a' healing' event after
the illegal invasion and destruction of their country.
Michael Kaiser, Cultural Ambassador for the
State Department thought the event would be: "a wonderful
way for Americans to learn about Iraqis and for Iraqis to learn
about Americans." The Ambassador apparently is unaware that
Iraqis knows all about Americans, Iraq was, after all, the country
which brought the world all we call civilized, writing, mathematics,
the first written records, the first laws, the wheel. Baghdad
(formerly Dar Es Salaam - City of Peace) was dubbed 'the Paris
of the ninth century.' Iraq and Palestine have the highest number
of Ph.Ds, per capita, on earth. Iraq, ancient Mesopotamia, is
'the cradle of civilization.'
Iraqis have been particularly excercised by
America since Hiroshima Day 1990 when the most draconian embargo
ever administered by the UN was imposed under pressure of the
US. Name just about anything one takes for granted from books
to bed linen, disinfectant to deodorant, fly spray to film -
and it was banned or blocked by the US and its little friend,
the UK.
Mr President, as you sit in the front row
of the auditorium with Laura, you will no doubt notice that Conductor
of the Iraq Symphony Orchestra, Mohammed Amin Ezzet, has very
disfigured hands. His neck and chest, too, are disfigured appallingly.
For nearly thirteen years, all spare parts for electricity were
also vetoed, which led to a burns epidemic as the poor resorted
to candles, even a wick in a bottle of kerosene - which routinely
exploded. The better off bought cheaply made lamps in the market,
which also exploded on an ongoing basis. People resorted to inventive
ways of cooking, which also routinely led to tragedy.
The thoroughly democratic embargo left few
unscathed. Mohammed Amin Ezzet is the gentlest of men, to whom
his music and family is all. Three years ago he had had just
celebrated winning a pan-Arab award for composition, orchestration
and conducting of an original piece of music. Returning home,
he went to his study to compose, his wife, Jenan prepared the
next day's rice, placing it to cook slowly overnight, on top
of the gas heater - the electricity was off. Her nightdress touched
the flame. Mohammed, hearing her screams ran and threw himself
over her.
Jenan was so burned, that in hospital, only
her mother was allowed to see her - and prayed for her death.
She died the next day. Mohammed's arms chest and hands are damaged
beyond repair. When I visited him in hospital two weeks later,
he was still too ill to be told of his wife's death. Jenan means
'bright eyes.' Two years later, he said quietly, he wished he
had died too.
Your father, his successor President Clinton
and your Administration, even vetoed strings for this orchestra's
violins, parts for their flutes, lutes, oboes. They were denied
music scores. They managed, however, to largely keep going and
played, poignant, superb music, marred by the odd flawed or missing
note due to lack of parts. Some orchestra members left the country
to earn hard currency to send home to help their families in
the grinding misery of the embargo. Their venue in the Al Rashid
Theatre (named after Baghdad's seventh century founder) became
pretty battered and run down, but hearing them play Chopin, Swan
Lake, or Strauss brought tears to the eyes, their courage and
battered setting and instruments, somehow heightening the beauty
and their indomitable spirit.
Last year, Mr President, a Chicago based campaigning
group called Voices in the Wilderness took with them to Baghdad,
spare parts, strings and music scores to this orchestra. Your
government is threatening them with either ten years in jail
or a fine exceeding one million dollars. Your troops allowed
the orchestra's precious theatre to be looted and ruined after
your 'liberation' and members of the orchestra, friends of the
founder of Voices, Kathy Kelly - who was in Baghdad, not safely
in Washington, during the war - went to her hotel and broke down
in tears. They had survived the embargo, the 1991 onslaught,
a maiming, Jenan's and a number of other deaths due to 'embargo
related causes', but it was your your actions which reduced them
to collapse.
So as you spin the upbeat news story of the
Iraq's National Symphony Orchestra coming to town, get into 'healing',
shake Mr Ezzet's scarred, misshapen hand, and listen to Bizet
and Beethoven, what about another bit of healing - putting out
a hand to Kathy Kelly and Voices and rescinding the nastiest,
pettiest act of its kind in modern history. Penalizing humanity.
Enjoy the concert - oh, and don't go offering
them turkey at the reception, sorry for the pun, but it didn't
go down too well.

Williamson’s book, Healing the Soul of America: Reclaiming
Our Voices as Spiritual Citizens.
MANY people are going around today saying,
“In any situation, I just ask myself, ‘What would Buddha,
or Jesus, do? What would the Torah tell me to do, or the Koran,
or the New Testament?’” Thinking about such things
is a perfect test, reading the news today. Would Jesus, if he
were a citizen of the richest nation on earth, choose to feed
the poor or fatten the rich? It’s certainly an interesting
question.
All of us are better off when contemplation
of holy principles is at the center of our lives. But it is in
actually applying that we forge the marriage between heaven and
earth, while merely dwelling on principle falls short of the
human effort needed to carry out God’s will. Just as we
need the light of the sun--but looking straight into it can blind
us as well.
There is a point in everyone’s spiritual
journey where, if your are not careful, the search for self-awareness
can turn into self-preoccupation. There is a fine line, at times,
between self-exploration and narcissism. One way to see how we’re
doing is to measure the fun factor: spiritual growth that’s
too much fun all the time usually isn’t growth at all. Anything
that has become too comfortable cannot ultimately be comforting.
The universe is invested in our healing, and healing is a fierce,
transformative fire. It is the product of human willingness to
change, and change is often hard.
For years, I thought I only had to heal myself,
and the world would take care of itself. Clearly we must work
on healing our own neuroses in order to become effective healers.
But then, having worked on our own issues a while, another question
begs for an answer: how healed can we ultimately become while
the social systems in which we live and move, and have our earthly
being, remain sick?
Years ago, we realized that people’s
psychology is intimately bound up with the psychology of their
family units. Today, it is very clear that the family, too, dwells
within a larger psychological system. It’s not just our
childhood of families whose dysfunctions influence us; our educational
systems, government, and business structures are often dysfunctional
as well, and in a manner that affects us all. None of us lives
in isolation anymore, from anyone or anything.
The principles that apply to our personal
healing apply as well to the healing of the larger world. First,
all healing principles are universal because they come from God.
And second, there actually is no objective outer world, for what’s
out there is merely a projection of what’s in our minds.
The laws of consciousness apply to everything. Anything, when
truly seen for what it is and surrendered to the higher mind,
begins to self-correct. But what is not looked at is doomed to
eternal re-enactment, for an individual or for a nation.
Politics, ideally, is a context for the care
of the public good. The word politics comes from an ancient Greek
root politeia, meaning not “of the government,” but
rather “gathering of citizens.” The source of power
in America is not the government; the source of power is us.
And millions of us, citizens of the United States, have begun
to see life in a less mechanistic, more enlightened way. The
consciousness revolution has already transformed both mainstream
medicine and business. Harvard Medical School has hosted symposiums
on the role of spirituality and healing in medicine, and highly
paid corporate consultants call on business executives to turn
their workplaces into “sanctuaries for the soul.” Government
is the only major American institution that doesn’t yet
seem to have heard that the world has unalterably changed.
There are new ideas on the world’s horizon,
as different from the twentieth-century worldview as the twentieth
century was different from the nineteenth century. We are ready
to apply principles of healing and recovery, not just to our
bodies, not just to our relationships, but to every aspect of
life.
World conditions challenge us to look beyond
the status quo for responses to the pain of our times. We look
to powers within as well as to powers without. A new, spiritually
based social activism is beginning to assert itself. It stems
not from hating what is wrong and trying to fight it, but from
loving what could be and making the commitment to bring it forth.
A nonviolent political dynamic is once again emerging, and it
is a beacon of light at the dawn of the twenty-first century.
Its goal, as in the words of Martin Luther King, Jr., is “the
establishment of the beloved community.” Nothing less will
heal our hearts and nothing less will heal the world.
It is a task of our generation to recreate
the American politeia, to awaken from our culture of distraction
and re-engage the process of democracy with soulfulness and hope.
Yes, we see there are problems in the world. But we believe in
a universal force that, when activated by the human heart, has
the power to make all things right. Such is the divine authority
of love: to renew the heart, renew the nations, and ultimately,
renew the world.

In these corrupt times 'War is peace', Orwell
said. It has never been clearer than now.
The theatrical apprehension of fallen Iraqi dictator Saddam Hussein
from his pathetic hole in the dirt is a prima facie example of
how the American vision of life and the world has become totally
twisted. It was the culmination of an unjust war against a defenseless
people, this ritual roughing up of a tired old man who was never
more than a puppet following the orders of the master manipulators
who always planned to do him in when it became convenient.
Saddam was never a danger to America, despite all the pre-war
rhetoric that has all been proven false.
George W. Bush, and his father, the elder Bush before him killed
many times more Iraqis than Saddam ever did. The 20,000 or so
Iraqi innocents who perished in the recent bombing of the Cradle
of Civilization were at least ten times more than the number
of political malcontents who ran afoul of the murderous machismo
of Saddam's inflexible rule, and the utter destruction of this
functioning nation-state was certainly something Hussein never
contemplated.
What the United States has done to Iraq is something far worse
than Saddam Hussein ever would or could have done. Saddam was
never a danger to his neighbors; that was all Zionist media spin.
The only country in that region that was worried about him was
Israel, because he represented an inflexible stumbling block
to the expansionist aims of the demonic Jewish state.
Americans refuse to confront the ugly facts about this. They
refuse to acknowledge that America has become the real evil empire.
The reasons for invading Iraq have been proved beyond any doubt
to have been lies. Iraq had no weapons of mass destruction, nor
did it have any connection to 9/11, the two reasons America used
to unleash murderousits military might. These have been debunked
beyond all question, and still Americans send their sons and
daughters to slaughter and be sacrificed for the ugly perpetuation
of these lies.
How Americans could continue to support these satanic fictions
is something for the historians to contemplate. When you use
obvious lies to go to war, then you are the criminals, you are
the evil ones. But Americans simply will not or cannot admit
this.
Bush's decision to go to war based on lies
have already cost some 700 American lives, with more than 5,000
other casualties, and thousands more stricken with a variety
of diseases related to vaccines, radioactive weaponry, and other
unspecified hazards. Plus there's the nearly $200 billion expended
from the Treasury that has not gone to either pay our military
for such arduous duty or rebuild the country we have just destroyed.
This money is literally a highway robbery of the American people
directed by favored American corporations who have reaped billions
virtually without lifting a finger. American corporations who
have contributed mightily to George Bush and his fascist associates
are overseeing the greatest robbery in history (eclipsing the
previous record set by Bush the Elder in his plundering of American
banks in the late 1980s).
But the American criminal behavior, you must remember, goes much
deeper. For 12 years, America and Britain have bombed Iraq constantly,
destroyed its civilian infrastructure, and caused the deaths
of a half million children who were deprived adequate medical
care and nutrition, all this after more than 100,000 were killed
in the first Gulf War, all this after a century of exploitation
and mass murder by - who else? - America and Britain.
Americans refuse to see that the war against
the Muslim world has been going on for more than a thousand years,
and nothing has basically changed. We install leaders who do
our bidding, and then when we find a more lucrative way to fleecing
that part of the world., we do away with them.
Either Americans remain oblivious to the pain
we inflict on this part of the world, or worse, we know what
we are doing, which makes us sadistic killers in order to maintain
our posh (though rapidly deteriorating) lifestyles. This is the
real American way - mass murder for money.
So now, War is peace. America is creating
a hell on earth. This mission has been accomplished in Iraq and
Afganistan and many other places. And now the criminals who engineer
these corrupt evil inhuman scams seem to want to make America
itself into the same kind of place, with arrest without trial,
poisoned medicines and medical care you can't trust, the imprisonment
of citizens who challenge the banks' warped fictions, and even
the end of an authentic voting system.
Even in the obvious onslaught of all these atrocities, most Americans
- perhaps brain-damaged by long-term exposure to flouride, radioactivity,
food additives and other debilitators - prefer to believe the
obvious lies spewed out by TV PR types (there are no legitimate
journalists remaining in mainstream media, only paid shills)
that America is still the world's last bastion of freedom.
Well, that's a lie, just like war is peace.
In reality, America is the new Nazi state, goose-stepping around
the world.
Americans are now like what they call "trusties"
in the prison of the world. They are like favored lackeys on
the plantation of the planet. But soon, as capitalism continues
to self-destruct around the world, they too will be tossed into
the slave quarters, treated like Iraqis, and consigned to caves
like Saddam found, hiding from the mindless might that has been
unleased in order to further the fortunes of the elite, and pound
and poison cannon fodder like us into nonexistence.
Saddam is not the real criminal here. He didn't
destroy his own country. He only offed some political opponents,
something that happens very often right here in America.
The real mass murderer is Bush. The corporate
TV stations continue to treat Bush as, if not a hero, at least
someone who is operating the righteous machinery of democracy.
Democracy is now as much of a lie as war is
peace. Democracy is the new buzzword for tyranny. There is a
robbery going on here which may be too late to stop. The siphoning
of money, resources and even water from the people who rightfully
own them to the military-backed corporations who wrongfully control
them signals a new dark era in human history, a new totalitarianism
frequently predicted in the literature of visionaries like Orwell
and Huxley, but never actually witnessed, at least on American
soil.
Now with all these free-speaking people put
in prison for merely trying to accurately describe what is happening:
Leonard Peltier, Ernst Zundel, Charles Sell, Rick Stanley, the
list has always been endless we are witnessing the dawn of a
new Dark Ages in which you must believe what you hear on television
of you will ultimately lose everything you have.
Stay tuned for "red alert," during
which you won't be able to leave your houses so they can come
around and take you away one by one.
The American dream is now a nightmare from
which there is no escape.

Pentagon scientists aim for future battlefield
and domestic victories with the aid of tranquilizing drugs and
genetically modified bugs.

The Observer of London
American military chiefs are developing plans
to use Valium as a potential weapon against enemy and domestic
forces and to control "hostile" populations, according
to official documents seen by The Observer.
The Pentagon has also asked scientists to
evaluate proposals to use genetically modified bugs that 'eat'
the enemy's fuel and ammunition supplies without harming humans.
The development of these 'non-lethal' weapons
angers campaigners who claim that they would breach international
treaties on biological and chemical weapons.
US documents reveal that two years ago the
Pentagon commissioned scientists at Pennsylvania State University
to look at potential military uses for a range of chemicals known
as calmatives. The scientists concluded that several drugs would
be effective to control crowds or in military operations such
as anti-terrorist campaigns. The drugs they recommended for 'immediate
consideration' included diazepam, better known as the tranquilizer
Valium, and dexmedetomidine, used to sedate patients in intensive
care. The scientists advised that these drugs can 'effectively
act on central nervous system tissues and produces a less anxious,
less aggressive, more tranquil-like behavior'.
Other official documents reveal how genetically
engineered micro-organisms to destroy equipment but not harm
troops are also being considered by US military scientists as
'non-lethal' weapons. One proposal from the Office of Naval Research
in Arlington, Virginia, proposes creating genetically modified
bugs that would corrode roads and runways and produce 'targeted'
deterioration of metal parts, coatings and lubricants of weapons
vehicles and support equipment as well as fuels'.
This group of scientists has already patented
microorganisms that would decompose polyurethane, 'a common component
of paint for ships and aircraft'. Another proposal from a biotech
laboratory at Brooks air force base in Texas was to modify 'anti-material
biocatalysts' already under development. One of these breaks
down fuels and plastics.
Most of the research was funded by Washington's
joint non-lethal weapons program, in which Britain plays an active
part. But further US documents, also seen by The Observer, reveal
how a split has developed between the two nations, with British
officials backing campaigners' claims that using drugs such as
Valium or other calmatives would be outlawed under the 1991 Chemical
Weapons Convention. This protocol prohibits 'any chemical which...
can cause death, temporary incapacitation or permanent harm'.
A report of a meeting in the Ministry of Defense's
headquarters in London in November 2000 states: 'The US and UK
interpret the Chemical Weapons Convention (CWC) differently regarding
riot control agents (RCA). The UK interpretation considers them
to be chemical weapons under the CWC and thus proscribed; the
US view is that they are not banned under that agreement. This
could lead to difficulties in combined operations in certain
circumstances, a situation compounded by the fact that the UK
is a signatory to the European Convention of Human Rights, which
further governs the use of NLW [non-lethal weapons].'
Some experts believe the use of genetically-modified
microbes in military operations would breach the Biological and
Toxin Weapons Convention.
Ed Hammond of the Sunshine Project - the US
campaigners against biological and chemical weapons that obtained
the documents - said: 'What is absolutely shocking about these
disclosures is that it represents either a massive institutional
failure to implement US commitments under international treaties
or it reflects an effort by some people in the Pentagon to undermine
those treaties.'

Copenhagen - Christiania,
the last independent hippy colony in Europe, is to be closed
on a legal technicality, a move that seems set to provoke street
fighting in Copenhagen as drop-outs and drug dealers resist government
bulldozers.
For more than 30 years the
self-governing settlement in the centre of the Danish capital
has acted as a magnet for those trying to escape the rat race.
The residents of Christiania
set up their own city state in a sprawling 18th-century naval
fortress once used as a barracks by the Nazi occupation forces.
The hippies' economy was almost
self-sustaining: pony-tailed craftsmen built and sold eccentric
bicycles, 24-hour bakeries turned out biologically pure bread
and carefully tended gardens supplied vegetables. Food was traded
for make-shift schooling, firewood and roof repair for books:
it was a primitive free-wheeling bartering economy in the middle
of one of Europe's most prosperous cities.
But Christiania also became
the hub of the capital's trade in soft drugs - sold freely on
Pusher Street - and it was this that stirred successive Danish
governments to consider a crackdown.
This time, the authorities
are serious. Government lawyers have discovered that an earlier
deal with the hippies, struck in 1989, merely gives the residents
the right to borrow the land, not to rent it.
Christiania had been recognised
as a "social experiment' 'in 1987, but two years later it
was made clear that the use of the land - some 80 acres inhabited
by about 1,000 people -was a concession rather than a formal
rental contract.
That freed the way for a cleanup.
The current conservative government
coalition has been growing impatient with the hippies. Last month
the police raided the enclave 146 times, even though police are
technically supposed to keep their distance.
The live-and-let-live policy,
symbolized by the sign hanging over the entrance, which declares
"No uniforms allowed, no bullet proof vests," is crumbling.
There have been 459 body searches in the past three weeks and
cars driving past the colony are regularly searched for drugs.
Popular Danish opinion has
been evenly divided over Christiania with many regarding it as
a harmless offbeat tourist attraction.
But the housing shortage in
Copenhagen is swinging Danes behind the idea that the large terrain,
much of it green parkland, could be better used to develop urban
housing.
The flower power disciples
could be comfortably rehoused and still leave space available
for others.
On top of that, the drug trade
would be brought under control.
But the residents are ready
to turn an eviction into a massive act of civil disobedience.
The last eviction attempt, in 1976, sucked in tens of thousands
of anarchist sympathizers from across the continent who set up
barricades and waged war with the police. The aim of the authorities
in the coming months seems to be to start digging up the streets.
Bulldozers will be sent into Pusher Street.
The street's drug traders,
however, are tough, typically surrounded by packs of fierce fighter
dogs; they are capable of more than symbolic resistance. A hoard
of weapons was found recently in a back room in one of the dilapidated
cottages.
"We are prepared for
street fights and civil war-like conditions,' 'Pernille Hansen,
a 29-year-old Christiania resident, said.
"People have had enough
of the present government and it won't take much to spark full-scale
violence."
The community is divided into
15 self-governing districts, each controlled by so-called anarchist
councils. Reports suggest that they have elaborate plans for
defence should the police move in.

That's the kind of thing that happens when
a crusading right wing party gets into power. Denmark now has
the worst immigration and citizenship laws in Europe. Crushing
the 'hippie nation' Christiania, where cannabis and marijuana
was legal and the pushers on Pusher Street once stood up for
their perks by going on strike - well, it looks like a symbolic
gesture based upon principle and getting more votes from the
fascists if you ask me. But I haven't been in Copenhagen since
BEFORE Christiania was established, so ask Kim.
Incidentally, Christiania was the name of
Norway's capital in Steiner's days. In 1925, they changed it
to Oslo without asking the residents. It's such a shame, because
Christiania is a beautiful name, and nobody here pronounces Oslo
correctly, not even on radio and television. They say "Oshlo,"
and that stinks. So change it back to Christiania (and legalize
it while you're at it)!

Wesley Clark
Wesley Clark has been pounced upon with adoration
by progressives and Democrats as though he were a God of reason
and salvation. This late-comer entered the race in September
at the top of the polls. In fact, he is a reincarnation of the
most corrupt and violent aspects of William Jefferson Clinton.
I have great respect for author and filmmaker Michael Moore,
but when I saw him endorse Wesley Clark, I nearly choked. Let's
refresh everyone's memory by looking at the retired NATO Commander's
history. It shows us is that he has the perfect résumé
to continue the job that the Bush gang began, and then botched.
Clark first hit my radar screen way back in
1993, after it was learned that US Army troops had been dispatched
to the Branch Davidian compound in Waco Texas. At the time, Clark
was the commander of the 1st Cavalry Division at Ft. Hood Texas.
As the division commander, Clark was the one to authorize the
release of armored units and - as later disclosed by filmmaker
Michael McNulty - very likely also in command of Delta Force
personnel who operated on his turf, and engaged in a brutal massacre
of unarmed civilians trying to flee the burning compound. According
to a well-documented September 2003 story at www.frontpagemagazine.com
Clark's second in command, Pete Schoomaker, was one of two military
officers to meet with Janet Reno in preparing the plans for the
final assault. That made him Clark's representative.
This is not a good progressive credential.
Clark's real notoriety came in 1999 when,
as NATO Commander under Bill Clinton, he led another US military
invasion, which the UN also refused to sanction, into Bosnia
and Kosovo. Clark's aggressive command nearly resulted in a military
confrontation with a Russian armored column. As it turns out,
the reasons for that invasion were as fabricated as were the
reasons for Bush's invasion of Iraq. For weeks, the American
people were bombarded by warnings about mass graves containing
tens of thousands of bodies. In the April 1999 issue of FTW,
I wrote about Kosovo and our allies, the Kosovo Liberation Army,
or KLA:
Has everyone forgotten that the U.S. government
referred to the KLA, just a year ago, as terrorists? Has everyone
forgotten, in the current "wag the dog" propaganda
assault, that the Serbs, going back to World War II have been
U.S. allies - that they are Christians and that they are not
receiving military training from countries which sponsor Islamic
terror? We hear reports of mass graves. We hear reports of rape
and atrocities. Have we yet seen any of the victims?
Kosovo is vastly different from the Contra
war or from Afghanistan and Pakistan. Why? Because U.S. air power
is overwhelmingly committed at the outset. Because the "Mighty
Wurlitzer" of American media is feeding on the hapless plight
of helpless victims on a scale akin to Wm. Randolph Hearst's
coverage of the sinking of the Maine in Havana Harbor…
The only difference now is that the quick
and cheap capital and funding mechanism of the drug trade has
replaced the much more time consuming process of investment and
extraction of war costs from a producing economy. The fact is
that the entire world economy and political decision making machinery
is now hooked on drugs. To me, that is a sure sign that the economic
models operating at the end of the 20th century are about as
adaptable as the dinosaurs were when the asteroid hit.
There were no weapons of mass destruction
in Iraq, and there were no mass graves holding tens of thousands
of bodies ever found in Kosovo. Yet, as we documented in 1999
using reports from Jane's Intelligence Weekly and The Christian
Science Monitor, in the process of conducting that war Clark
made safe the KLA's control over 70% of the heroin reaching Western

Another parallel to the post-9/11 world is
that, under US rule, Afghanistan has again become the number-one
producer of opium in the world, estimated at 75% of world supply,
all under CIA control. Afghanistan is the source of the heroin
that is being smuggled through the Balkans into Western Europe
(and all over the world) to this day. And, Osama bin Laden had
Al Qaeda personnel training the KLA with US permission.
As Professor Michel Chossudovsky of the University
of Ottawa reported in June 2002 in his publication Global Outlook:
The U.S. Congress has documented in detail,
the links of Al Qaeda to agencies of the U.S. government during
the civil war in Bosnia-Herzegovina, as well as in Kosovo.3 More
recently in Macedonia, barely a few months before September 11,
U.S. military advisers were mingling with Mujahideen mercenaries
financed by Al Qaeda. Both groups were fighting under the auspices
of the Kosovo Liberation Army (KLA), within the same terrorist
paramilitary formation.4
It is absurd to think that the Al Qaeda operatives
in Kosovo were there without Clark's knowledge or that he did
not control their interactions with US military.
In June of 2000, I was stunned to see an announcement
in the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette that a retiring Wesley Clark
was going to go to work for billionaire investment banker and
Presidential kingmaker Jackson Stephens in Little Rock. This
set off alarm bells that Clark was someone to watch. In his current
campaign literature, Clark lists his profession as an investment
banker. And he is still employed by Stephens.
Stephens was the man who gave a down-and-out
Bill Clinton a $2 million loan to jumpstart an ailing presidential
campaign in 1992. There is also a glowing photograph of Stephens
with a young George W. Bush in the brilliant expose of the drug
money laundering and covert operations bank BCCI, False Profits.
Several BCCI players, including Saudi banker Khalid bin Mahfouz,
have been directly tied to the financing of Al Qaeda.
A search of the FTW web site shows that I
have written about Stephens - Jimmy Carter's roommate at Annapolis
-- six times. Stephens' firm Systematics, which has since gone
through two name changes to become Axciom, was deeply connected
to the PROMIS software scandal, the Worthen Bank, the Lippo Group,
and subsequently through a 2001 FTW investigation to drug money
laundering out of the Mena Regional Intermountain Airport in
Arkansas. In that investigation, looking into the apparent release
from US prison of Medellin Cartel co-founder Carlos Lehder, we
found that one of Stephens' subsidiaries,
Beverly Enterprises, had been connected to a suspected money
laundering operation involving bearer bonds sold by Bill Clinton's
Arkansas Development Financial Authority, sold by Stephens Inc,
and underwritten by the insurance giant AIG and Goldman Sachs.

On Oct. 7, Wesley Clark's campaign manager,
Donny Fowler, resigned suddenly -- according to a CNN story the
following day -- because his authority had been usurped by two
insiders from Clinton's 1992 campaign. That Bill Clinton would
turn up all over the Clark campaign is no surprise. The day before
announcing his candidacy, Clark received an endorsement from
Harlem Congressman Charlie Rangel. Rangel, a black Democrat,
is closely tied to the Clinton machine. Clinton maintains an
office in Harlem. That being said, what has Wesley Clark ever
done to endear himself to black voters? What was Rangel thinking?
Bill Clinton is a member of the Bilderberg
Group, The Trilateral Commission and the Council on Foreign Relations.
Clark is a member of the CFR.
Wesley Clark is also one of two presidential
candidates to have "discovered" his Jewish ancestry
in an election year. The September 26 issue of The Jewish Forward
revealed that Clark was the son of a Jewish lawyer from New York
named Kanne. After his father's death when Clark was four, Clark
was taken to Arkansas by a Southern Baptist mother and raised
as a Baptist. According to the story, Clark did not discover
his Jewish ancestry until he was in his twenties. The Forward
story is the first-known public disclosure of this ancestry.
And, last but not least, Wesley Clark has
a business relationship with George Soros. According to Heather
Cottin's excellent deconstruction of Soros (above) Clark sits
on the board of Soros' International Crisis Group (ICG) with
the likes of Zbigniew Brzezinski and Richard Allen, former Reagan

The author loses credibility when he/she praises
the Serbs and denies any massacares on their part in his/her
attempt to paint Clark's actions as NATO commander as dangerous.
Further, I was in Ft. Hood when Clark was
1st Cav. commander and Waco was going down, so I know a bit how
things run in the military. At that time, there was another division
on base, the 2nd Armor, and a base commander above Clark. That
someone who reported to Clark was involved with Janet Reno is
hardly an indictment of Clark's leadership. Does the author seriously
think that members of the military have a choice when the White
House askes for tanks? By what logic Delta Force (based in North
Carolina) reports to Clark when working in Texas is also not
clear to me.
The rest of the article is no more logical.
The writer goes on and on about the evils of this and that, but
it is not clear what this has to do with Clark.
As typical of this angry attack piece, Clark's
racial motives are questioned ("What has Wesley Clark ever
done to endear himself to black voters?") but nothing at
all is said about his record.
Interestingly, there is nothing in the whole
piece about drugs or the drug war, despite the title.
The bottom of the piece explains it: this
is an simple attack piece by a Kucinich supporter.

is the art of compromise. This is why idealists generally have
such a horrible time with it. My ideal candidates would be completely
unelectable. Electable candidates are all less (and often far
less) than ideal. I wasn't thrilled with everything Clinton did,
but I preferred the country under him than under Bush. It may
be a small difference, but a difference none the less. Clark
is capable of handling the presidency, would in all likelyhood
be a little left of Bush, and could concievably carry enough
of the conservative states to win. Other candidates may meet
the first two criterion, but seem unlikely on the third.

Hi Daniel and Christine,
I am so sick of this compromise the Democrats
have made to the devil. Robert Scheer of the Los Angeles times
has a great article today. It's called the US winked at Hussein's
evil. At the end of his comments he reccommends one try to find
the truth at www.nsarchive.org
regarding what he is reporting. It is the National Security Archive
an organization that fights for government transparency it seems.
They are uncovering government documents from twenty + years
and it is fascinating but it is also something that has been
known for a long time. And only Scheer of the LA Times will keep
bringing it up. He is quite balanced in a way that nationanal
syndicat writer Brownstein appears to me.
I want Dean to knock him out in the old cowboy
swagger. I want him to knock him right and then left and then
upside down till he swirls and slowly hits the ground, ala Popeye
and Brutus.
I don't want my peoples right compromised
behind a rock and a hard place anylonger. I need a man who will
make a stand. I don't need anymore comprimisers until we get
this thing back to a balance. I want to put them in their place
and throw the key away until they beg for some light and then
let them sit a little while longer. I don't want to show them
any compassion I just want to show them justice for what they
wrought in the last twenty years of what I have been following
of the world. I want justice to prevail where their hardend hearted
ideologies try to make head way. The idea of States Rights hearken
back to the days of the civil rights movement letting pockets
of white power live and control the environement. Instead of
moving forward they will keep the poor uneducated so they might
not rise one day and take control from their world greedy controlling
little minds. They will keep us as slaves to their ideologies
and their monies. Buy buy buy help us out of the deficit, spend
your money help us keep the economy going.
We are leading the world to anihilation and
I don't want to take it any more. I need Dean, and I do'nt care
if he is angry I actually like it. And if righteousness comes
out as anger so be it. They have highjacked the Christ and we
are aiming to free him from the clutches of the wink wink good
ol boys club drawing the end to be nearer then it needs to be
at this time. Where is the love?
I don't think Mr. Clark has a strong following.
I can't see him as president. He seems to willing to compromise
and that would be a good thing if things were not so drastic.
We can't take back 50 percent of the 150% we lost. We need to
get back to the mainline balance and then we can talk about compromising.
I say hell no I won't go to the compromisers.
I guess I just realized who I am voting for
and why.

Dear Daniel and Christine,
There is a lot that is going on in our public
life that isn't readily apparent, and certainly is seldom discussed,
except in smaller circles.
Neither the Democrats or the Republicans are
doing the job that needs doing. And while politics is the art
of compromise, that art isn't even practiced today. What is practiced
today is the selling of influence, and trading in votes (vote
for my bill, and I will vote for your pork barrel). This is not
compromise, but commerce.
What we see today in Washington is something
in decay - perhaps at the end of its utility. It isn't going
to get better, and an obvious sign of this is that we don't have
a single true statesman as a candidate for any party. They are
all politicians by trade, and that is a sorry calling these days
- one based on ignorance and self serving behaviors. They know
little of history, nothing of economics, and certainly have no
social skills beyond those that are required to get and maintain
election.
There is a huge difference between obtaining
power (getting elected) and its wise use. The best that politicians
do these days in the use of power is to serve a very dark god,
sometimes quite intentionally.
I could go on, but I won't. I've written a
lot over the years concerning these problems and if you want
