Hi Walden (et al),
I just got another idea for one:
Archetype and Icon - Images in Fairy Tales
vs Images in the Media
Briar Rose vs. Britney Spears!
Hey, did you hear that Barbie and Ken are
getting a divorce? No, seriously! It's in the news! Seems like
there is this chick named Cali Girl who has been ALL OVER Ken
and Barbie is thinking about hooking up with this Aussie guy
named Blaine. I'll bet he's David Wenham's cousin! Anyway....
: ) Christine

Who those folks you talkin about, Christine?
Did they work on the first Goetheanum? Are they members of the
First Class (or 2nd or 3rd)? Were they on the barricades during
the 3-fold revolution? Btw, don't let that bitch Sophia get you
down, I got it from supersensible source that she's a transvestite.
Roar, baby, roar!

I'm confused enough about people's genders
around here as it is. Don't make it worse :)

Just to confuse the issue more concerning
the mail from our new member. Despite his excellent English,
he was cemented in logical German grammar, to wit, he thought:
"Der Kritiker" = the critic in a general sense, though
the word itself is masculine. Therefore, though he meant Catherine,
he quite logically continued his sentences in the masculine.
(Maybe she's a transvestite, too.) He can correct me if I'm wrong.

Dear Tarjei, thanks for Your
background information, which I am especially grateful for
as a newcomer. Dear Frank, I thought, she was a woman, but in
German some madsculine words are used for women too. Its like
You have a Secretary of State, a masculine form, but he (she)
is a woman, e.g. Madeleine Albright. (Is she a woman?)
I have been following the link to the essay
of Catherine MacCounfuse. I have downloaded it. The first paragraph
shows her ability of misunderstanding to the fullest extent:
She wrote, concerning our Philosopher of Freedom:
"This direct knowledge
("direct access to the spiritual worlds"), he argued,
was the only foundation for the true moral freedom. He went on
to develop and teach practical methods by which it could be achieved."
No, Miss! Missed! (In German spelled: Mist!)
The experience of freedom is founded on the halfway developed
Consciousness-Soul. On nothing else. If we find in the core of
our being light of moral intuitions, then we will feel free.
If an intuition of some outer experience enlightens us, a door
is opening in the depth of our soul to the core, to the essence
of the outer world. If an intuition of a moral idea is developping
itself in the center of our being, then a door is opening to
our own higher being. The "Geist-Selbst" (Spirit-Self")
is shining its light into our soul. It is entering us, or better:
we are entering our soul, when we are acting out of our spirit.
"Spiritual activity" is the translation Rudolf Steiner
preferred for Freedom. This is not the same as Meditaton - although
meditation is a sort of spiritual activity. The development of
our inner eyes and inner ears has nothing to do with free spiritual
activity. Look, what a strange impression will the uninstructed
reader have? Freedom in the anthroposophical way: that is something
only for Initiates. Quite the contrary is true. Miss MacCounfused
is not able to understand the difference between the knowledge
of oneself and the knowledge of hogher worlds.
In the second paragraph, Miss MacCounfused
shows with great splendour and glamour her inability to observe
things clearly. She wrote:
"Anthroposophists, when
they can be understood at all, express superstitions and prejudices
that would embarass a redneck. Fearing injury from rock music
to microchips to Jesuits, they have become a society of esoteric
hypochondriacs, in neo-Amish withdrawal from modern political
and economic life."
Well, well: She can only understand superstitions
and prejudices. I do believe her. But, as the the German poet
Lichtenberg said,
"if a book and a head
clash together and it sounds like an empty hall, its not always
the book, that makes the noise..."
But in earnest. There are anthroposophists
as described. - But it is unfair to describe a spiritual movement
by describing its strangest members. Would we describe the Catholic
church through the example of a sicilian or peruvian landworkers
woman, a superstitious peasant? No, we would always try to look
at the preeminant heads of a movement, to describe the real potential.
The longyear leader of the German "Siemens" enterprises,
building electric household machines, and through KWU building
nuclear plants, has been an anthroposophist. Better known should
be Joseph Beuys, who became a member of the society, after he
noticed, how people with very different opinions on the social
future cametogether in the section.
Thanks Rolf

Is Sophia real? Well, well, well...and I was
so sure she was only Tarjei's feminine side...
In any case, for a list that is supposed to
be all about freedom and no rules etc, she's bossing around quite
a lot lately. Maybe she's bored. Maybe we should set her up in
a blind date with Dan Dugan or something.
